OBD-Locked MDG1 bootloader? Unlock it using bench connection.
MG1/MD1 ECUs received a bootloader update eliminating the OBD flashing possibility around 2019.07, so all MDG1-equipped vehicles which received a software update after this point requires to be unlocked via bench connection prior to OBD flashing of the modified firmware. 1769Flash offers automated bench unlock flow using ScanMatik SM2/3 interface, covering all DME8 ECU versions known to date.
How it works

Connect the ScanMatik to the DME
According to wiring diagram from Docs tab, using ScanMatik2/3 with a bench cable and a stable power supply.
Automated Unlock
Just two buttons, Connect+Unlock and you are all set for OBD flashing.
Flash OBD
Install the ECU back, the ECU is open for OBD flashing now, with OEM FSC retained.
What it changes
No 3rd party tools
The other way through a locked bootloader is a bench read produced by a third-party tool. 1769Flash still accepts one of those files — it just no longer needs one.

Access to Flash/Eeprom
The same add-on allows reading and writing of full 8 MB PFlash with automatic checksum/CVN verification, and reading/writing of the 768 KB EEPROM/DFLASH — for backup and recovery, well beyond the unlock itself.
Retain OEM FSCs

What is supported
The app reads the MCU type, the boot controller version and the ECU security version off the ECU when it connects, and proceeds only for a combination listed here. Bench unlock is separate from OBD support — it opens a locked bootloader so the DME accepts a tune over OBD afterwards.

Which DMEs can be bench-unlocked?
Infineon-based MG1 and MD1 engine DMEs, both pre- and post-2020 variants: MG1CS024, MG1CS049 and MG1CS201 (TC298TP), and MD1CP032 (TC299TP). As well as JDP-based control units, both pre and post-2020 variants: MG1CS003, MD1CS001 and MD1CP002 (MPC5777M).
Do I still need a third-party bench read?
No. If you already have one, 1769Flash still accepts it — the unlock prompt keeps that option — but you no longer need a second tool to produce one.
What hardware do I need?
A ScanMatik 2/3 with the ScanMatik J2534 driver v2.22.2 or newer (older drivers are not supported), a bench harness for the DME, and a stable 12 V supply. ONLY ORIGINAL SCANMATIK INTERFACES ARE SUPPORTED. Please visit https://scanmatik.pro/ to purchase.
What does it cost?
€500 one-time, on top of the MDG1 protocol, for unlimited VINs. Bench is a tuner add-on — it is not part of a customer's single-VIN DME license.
Is the unlock permanent?
Yes, as long as bootloader isn't overwritten (via OBD update or recovery), ECU will stay unlocked.
